Game Notes

Seahawks deny the Raiders 27-24.

Oakland's hopes of clinching the AFC West are washed away on a wet day, with a controversial call and late rally by Seattle. An apparent game-saving play turns costly for the Raiders, as Charles Woodson forces a Ricky Watters fumble that results in a safety when Marquez Pope is ruled to have rolled into the end zone.

Instead of having the ball and the lead, with little more than 2 minutes remaining, Oakland must free kick back to Seattle, leading 24-21 w/ 2:24 remaining. The Seahawks take the ball and drive for the winning TD on Jon Kitna's 9-yard TD pass to Darrell Jackson w/ :28 left in the game.

Watters rushes for 168 yards. Tyrone Wheatley counters with 146 yards rushing, but Rich Gannon struggles hitting just 5-of-17 with 3 INTs.
