Alex Zanardi storms through the field for the win.

Zanardi takes the roundabout route from pole to the winner's spot in Cleveland. Zanardi comfortably controls the race until a caution comes out and he leads a small group of cars into the pits while its still closed. Zanardi is sent to the back of the field and then gets an added black flag for failing to merge into traffic properly after leaving the pits.

However, Zanardi is able to slice through the field, finally passing Bryan Herta for 2nd place, and then overtaking Gil de Ferran for the lead late, and then holds off de Ferran for the win after getting held up by traffic.
