Michael Schumacher dominates on the Hungaroring, closing in on the lead in the Driver's Championship chase.

Schumacher once again has the winning pit/fuel strategy, allowing him to grab the lead and stretch the lead over both Mclarens, which were unable to hold the lead after starting on the front row. Schumacher beats Coulthard by over 9 seconds and laps Mika Hakkinen.

Jacques Villenueve lands his Williams in 3rd to reach the podium.
