Kenny Brack capitalizes when Robby Gordon runs out of gas late.

Brack dominates the closing stages of the race, but trails Gordon after the final caution flag shuffles the leaders. However, not pitting with Brack and the other leaders, turns into a failed gamble as Brack delivers A.J. Foyt his 1st Indy win as a car owner.

Brack over takes 2nd place finisher Jeff Ward, and then chases down Gordon as he gambles on fuel.

Brack benefits when the 2 dominant cars from the 1st half of the race both meet bitter ends. Arie Luyendyk crashes while leading in his final Indy race, and Greg Ray is taken out by a pit lane accident.
