Irvine leads a 1-2 Ferrari finish with teammate Michael Schumacher, beating Mclaren's Mika Hakkinen. However, both Ferrari's are disqualified later after failing technical inspection. However, the victory and points are later re-instated, sending the championship race onto the final race in Japan.
