Schumacher's Ferrari dominates from beginning to end as teammate Rubens Barrichello and Mclaren's Mika Hakkinen both retire early. David Coulthard comes across in 2nd place, but is disqualified when a wing on his Mclaren fails to meet spec, raising Benetton's Giancarlo Fisichella into 2nd place, followed by Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

The victory gives Schumacher a clean sweep of the season's 1st 2 races.
