Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello form a 1-2 victory parade for Ferrari after David Coulthard's launch control fails, sending him from the pole position to the back of the field. Coulthard never recovers, finishing 5th as his teammate Mika Hakkinen bows out with mechanical failure. Jaguar's Eddie Irvine claims the 3rd podium position.
