Race Notes

Dan Wheldon is in the right place, right time, capturing his 2nd Borg-Warner Trophy in the 100th running at the Brickyard.

A year after a late caution denies Wheldon a chance to close on the victory, the door opens for Wheldon when rookie J.R. Hildebrand loses control in the final turn, crashing into the wall with victory insight. Wheldon is able to slip past Hildebrand before the yellow caution can come on, giving him the win.

The late dramatics come after fuel mileage proves critical force the dominant duo Team Ganassi, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, to pit late after dueling each other for the lead throughout much of the race.
