Boston College has Miami on the ropes with 1st-and-goal in the final minute before Matt Walters corrals a deflection from Mike Rumph and then Ed Reed takes the ball and returns it 80 yards for the clinching score w/ :13 left. The Eagles had earlier missed a chip shot FG attempt that would have cut the lead to 12-10.

The Hurricanes sneak by after managing just 4 FGs as Ken Dorsey is picked off 4 times, and a clock-killing drive is ended when Frank Gore fumbles with just over 2 minutes to play, setting the stage for Brian St. Pierre's late rally. Clint Portis picks up the slack for Dorsey, rushing for 160 yards.
