Game Notes

#1 Hurricanes overwhelm the #6 Gators 41-16.

Miami returns to the Swamp for the 1st time since 1986 and makes itself at home, overcoming 14 penalties with a dominating offensive performance and a decisive defensive play. Miami rolls up 306 yards rushing, led by Willis McGahee's 204 yards on 24 carries.

Ken Dorsey tosses 4 TDs, including a 7-yarder to Andre Johnson in the 2nd quarter to give Miami a 13-10 lead on Florida. He adds a 10-yarder to Ethenic Sands before halftime and starts the 2nd half with the 1st of 2 TD passes to James Geathers.

However, the Gators threaten to get back into the game after a 26-yard INT return by Bam Hardemon makes it 27-16 and the offense drives to the Miami 6, threatening to cut the lead to 1 score in the 3rd quarter, but Maurice Sikes steps in front of a Rex Grossman pass and returns it 97 yards for a TD and 34-16 lead for the Canes.
