Game Notes

#10 Hurricanes maintain their hex over the #9 Seminoles with a 16-14 win that features Wide Right IV.

Miami comes out on the right side of 2 critical special teams plays late. After a fumble by Brock Berlin sets up Florida State for a potential go-ahead scoring opportunity, Xavier Beitia pushes a 39-yard FG attempt Wide Right w/ 5:30 left in the game. Then D.J. Williams carries for 31 yards on a fake punt, allowing Miami to milk most of the remaining time off the clock.

It was a fitting end for a game that featured stymied offenses throughout the 2nd half. Florida State had taken a 14-3 lead in the 1st half. However, the Seminoles manage just 206 yards on offense.

Miami is able to rally as Tyrone Moss scores on a 3-yard TD run, and Jon Peattie hits a 44-yard FG on the final play of the half, cutting Florida State's edge to 14-13. Peattie's 51-yard FG in the 3rd quarter gives Miami the lead.

Jarrett Payton carries the Hurricanes for much of the night, rushing for 131 yards in his final game.
