Game Notes

Terps stage another big rally to beat the Volunteers 28-27.

Down 21-0 at halftime, Maryland comes back for another victory, after earlier in the season completing the largest comeback in NCAA history against Miami. This time its a smaller hill, but the Terps have to rally twice.

Rick Bedanjek scores on a 1-yard TD run with less than 3 minutes to play to give the Terps the lead again after Tennessee erased a brief 1-point deficit when Jeff Panuska returns a kickoff 100 yards for a TD after Maryland had gone up 22-21 in the 3rd quarter.

Bedanjek rushes for 90 yards, combining with Tommy Neal and Alvin Blount to rush for 229 yards. Neal's 57-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter starts Maryland's comeback. Frank Reich's 40-yard TD pass to Ferrell Edmunds gives the Terps a 22-21 lead before Panuska's return.
