Game Notes

#18 Yellow Jackets rally late to nip the Spartans 17-14.

Michigan State takes a 14-7 lead on a pair of TD passes from Dave Yarema to Mark Ingram. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech struggles with an offense depleted by suspensions to 3 starters, including being forced to start Todd Rampley, who attempted just 2 passes all year, at QB.

However, Rampley guides the Jackets on a 4th quarter drive for a 40-yard FG by David Bell to cut the deficit to 14-10. Two critical plays turn against the Spartans with Lorenzo White fumbling to set up Bell's FG and an INT by Anthony Bell being negated by a roughing the passer penalty, allowing Georgia Tech to continue its drive for the go-ahead score. Malcolm King gets around the end for a 5-yard TD run w/ 1:52 to play to put the Jackets ahead.

King bears the load for Tech on offense, rushing for 122 yards on 16 carries. Meanwhile, White leads Michigan State, rushing for 156 yards with Ingram catching 3 passes for 70 yards and 2 TDs.
