New England gets interception TD returns from Ty Law and Otis Smith to offset a sluggish, mistake-prone offense to secure the victory. Law gives the Patriots their 1st TD, Troy Brown returns a punt 68 yards for a TD and 17-3 lead in the 3rd quarter.

New England's offense finally puts away Carolina with TDs late in the 3rd quarter and early in the 4th. The Panthers commit 6 turnovers in George Seifert's final game.
