Pittsburgh sprints out to a 21-0 lead converting 3 mistakes by Indianapolis into 3 TDs. Tommy Maddox hits Hines Ward on a 17-yard TD pass following a blocked punt. A 3rd-down facemask keeps alive another drive, setting up Jerome Bettis' 3-yard TD run in the 1st quarter.

After the Colts miss a FG, the Steelers take over and drive for a 5-yard TD run by Bettis and 21-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. Indianapolis closes to within 21-10 on an 11-yard TD pass from Peyton Manning to Marcus Pollard, but Mike Logan picks off Manning later in the 3rd quarter, setting up Maddox's 14-yard TD pass to Ward.
