Game Notes

Giants get defensive when it matters, beating the Chiefs 21-17.

Despite being outgained by almost a 2-to-1 margin, New York prevails with a defensive stop at the end following a "Miracle of Arrowhead" turnabout moments earlier to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. With Kansas City trying to burn up the clock and force the Giants to use up their timeouts, Brian Kelley forces a fumble by Mike Williams in the final 2 minutes, with Harry Carson scooping it up and returning it 22 yards for the go-ahead score with 1:42 left.

New York then stops Kansas City's final rally attempt when the Giants break up several passes into the end zone, the last coming as time runs out. The Chiefs fall despite Mike Livingston's 294 yards and 1 TD passing and Tony Reed's 209 yards combined rushing and receiving.
