New England scores 21 points on turnover returns to stay 1 game behind Buffalo in the AFC East. Baltimore's Bert Jones returns from a 1st half shoulder injury to toss 1 ill-fated pass in the second half that Rod Shoate picks off and returns 42 yards for a TD and 17-0 lead.

After extending their lead to 20-7, the Patriots break the game open when Ricky Sanford scoops up a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and returns it for a TD. Later Allan Clark repeats the same feat for the final score.

Don Calhoun rushes for 106 yards and 2 TDs, and Vagas Ferguson adds 100 yards for the franchise's 1st ever game with 2 runners over 100 yards.
