Game Notes

Browns end the "jinx" beating the Steelers 27-24.

Cleveland rallies and then survives for its 1st win at Three Rivers Stadium in 17 tries. The Browns are able to reverse the bad luck with 3 key plays.

After Pittsburgh takes a 14-10 lead late in the 1st half, Gerald McNeil returns the ensuing kickoff 100 yards to regain the lead for Cleveland. Trailing 24-20 in the 4th quarter, Matt Bahr misses a 2nd FG attempt, but a running into the kicker call bails out the Browns and leads to Earnest Byner's 4-yard TD run for the lead.

The Steelers appeared headed for a potential tying FG in the final 2 minutes but Mark Malone loses the football while running an uncharacteristic option play allowing the Browns to recover and burn the clock.
