Pittsburgh @ San Diego

Network: NBC
Announcers: Jay Randolph, Reggie Rucker
Format: DVD (2 disks)
Quality: 7.5
Notes: Includes commercials, halftime and WPXI-11's "5th Quarter" post-game show... Periodic tracking during 1st 20 minutes of Disk 1... Color is wonderful, but grade is lowered by the significant Ghosting that is very typical on many Pittsburgh recordings. (Didn't anyone with a VCR there have cable?!)

Game Notes

Chargers jump in front and then hold on for a 20-14 win over the Steelers.

San Diego dominates the 1st half, taking a 14-0 lead on a TD pass and TD run by ex-Steeler Mark Malone. Malone hits Darren Flutie with a 6-yard TD pass in the 2nd quarter and then scores on a 1-yard sneak.

The Chargers stretch the lead to 17-0 in the 3rd quarter before Pittsburgh starts to rally. However, the Steelers are hamstrung by 3 turnovers and mistakes. Gary Anderson allows San Diego to control the game, rushing for 170 yards on 26 carries, while adding 5 catches for 20 more yards.
