Miami bounces back from being stopped on a goalline stand by New England by stretching out a 7-3 lead to forge a 1st place tie in the AFC East. The Dolphins score the next 2 times they get the ball, first on a 7-yard TD run by Sammie Smith and a 1-yard rollout by Dan Marino.

The Patriots draw within 21-10 on John Stephens' 1-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter, but Miami stretches the lead out in the 4th quarter. Marino hits 21 of 32 for 300 yards, but fails to throw a TD pass for the 1st time while throwing for over 300 yards.
