Drew Bledsoe throws for 232 yards and 4 TDs, and New England gets TDs from its defense and special teams in routing San Diego. The Patriots knock out Stan Humphries and force 6 turnovers.

Leading 14-7, the Patriots convert an INT by Ted Johnson, into a 7-yard TD pass from Bledsoe to Sam Gash, and then Willie McGinest recovers a fumble in the end zone for another score and 28-7 lead. After Bledsoe's 4th TD pass, Corwin Brown picks up a fumbled punt and returns it 42 yards for a TD and 45-7 lead before the end of the 3rd quarter.
