Steve Young throws for 245 yards and 2 TDs, helping San Francisco to its 11th straight win despite a late threat by San Diego. The 49ers go up 17-3 on Young's 3-yard TD pass to J.J. Stokes in the 3rd quarter.

However, a drive for a clinching score ends up going the other way when Paul Bradford picks up a fumble and returns it 78 yards for a score. Backup Todd Philcox then guides several late threats, but each fades away without cutting into San Francisco's lead.
