Chiefs roll over the Chargers 29-7.

Kansas City closes in on the AFC West title with a workman-like effort beating San Diego. The Chiefs take advantage of chances and their defense, which sacks San Diego QBs 7 times, force 2 turnovers, converting one into a TD and also recording a safety. Pete Stoyanovich chips in a pair of FGs.

The Chargers do stay even with Kansas City, which is sluggish on offense, until Rich Gannon hits Lake Dawson with a 21-yard TD pass late in the 1st half for a 14-7 lead. Stoyanovich adds 2 FGs in the 3rd quarter while Derrick Thomas sacks Todd Philcox in the end zone for a safety and 22-7 lead before the defense adds a INT return in the 4th quarter.
