Game Notes

Oilers survive attrition to beat the Broncos 13-7.

Houston hangs on for a win after losing Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini and Ken Burrough to injury during the game. Campbell scores on a 3-yard run in the 2nd quarter to give the Oilers a 10-7 lead over Denver. However, Campbell injuries a groin on the play and never returns.

Burrough also exits with an injury in the 2nd quarter, and then Pastorini is KO'd with a groin injury in the 3rd quarter. However, Houston converts an INT by Gregg Bingham into a 20-yard FG by Toni Fritsch in the 4th quarter to pad its lead. Rob Carpenter steps in to Campbell's spot and rushes for 59 yards to help the Oilers play some ball control and limit Denver's rally chances.
