Raiders knock out the Oilers 27-7.

Oakland gets several big plays on offense, and a big-play defense to send Houston home. Lester Hayes leads the way with 2 sacks and 2 critical INTs, ending a Oilers' scoring threat and producing the finishing touch with the 2nd.

Trailing 10-7, Houston threatens to score early in the 2nd half, only to have the threat ended when Hayes picks off a tipped pass. He later picks off Ken Stabler and returns it 19 yards for a score and 27-7 lead. The Raiders' defense sacks Stabler 7 times and forces 3 turnovers.

Oakland's offense struggles through much of the game, but Jim Plunkett connects with Art Whittington on a 44-yard bomb early in the 4th quarter to open a 17-7 lead.
