Game Notes

Raiders rip the Vikings 32-14.

Oakland combines a strong running game with big-play passes and a stout defense to shut down Minnesota. Clarence Davis and Mark van Eeghen combine for 210 yards rushing, with Davis leading the way with 137 yards, while Fred Biletnikoff catches 4 passes for 79 yards, setting up a pair of scores.

The Vikings' hopes fade early when a blocked punt recovered at the 2 results in a turnover. Oakland responds by going out 16-0 on a 1-yard TD pass from Kenny Stabler to Dave Casper, a 1-yard TD run by Pete Banaszak and a FG by Errol Mann.

Mann adds a 2nd FG before Minnesota finds the end zone on a 8-yard TD pass from Fran Tarkenton to Sammy White. The Vikings appear to be gaining momentum when Willie Hall picks off Tarkenton setting up a 2nd TD run by Banaszak and then Willie Brown provides the finishing touch with a 75-yard INT return for a score and 32-7 lead.
