Game Notes

Cowboys take advantage of mistake-prone Broncos for 27-10 win.

Denver turns it over 8 times, marked by a bumbling 1st half that allows Dallas to build a 13-0 lead despite a flawed performance on the Cowboys' part. Craig Morton is pulled in the 3rd quarter after throwing 4 INTs, but his replacement, Norris Weese, struggles as well as the duo are a combined 8-of-25 for 61 yards.

However, Weese provides a spark. After Butch Johnson's diving 45-yard TD reception from Roger Staubach gives Dallas a 20-3 lead, Weese drives Denver to a 1-yard TD run by Rob Lytle late in the 3rd quarter.

The Broncos are able to make the game competitive briefly with Tony Dorsett and Staubach in the lockerroom with injuries. But Robert Newhouse heaves a 29-yard TD pass to Golden Richards in the 4th quarter for a 27-10 lead.
