Mika Hakkinen wins the battle with Michael Schumacher and then holds on for the win in Montreal.

Schumacher holds the lead with his Ferrari from his pole position but later hits the wall while under pressure from Hakkinen's Mclaren. Hakkinen is then able to stay ahead of Benetton's Giancarlo Fisichella, beating him by less than a second, and 3rd place finisher Eddie Irvine's Ferrari by less than 2 seconds.
