Coulthard fends off Ferrari's Michael Schumacher winning the battle before Schumacher's car loses the war and retires. Coulthard then leads Mclaren teammate Mika Hakkinen home for a 1-2 finish by the Silver Arrows. Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello takes 3rd place on the podium.
