Gordon makes a good pit stop on the final stop pay off in track position and the victory after trailing most of the leaders throughout the day. Rusty Wallace had dominated for much of the race before losing a cylinder and finishing 33rd.

Gordon is able to hold off teammate Terry Labonte for the victory, while Dale Jarrett finishes 3rd.
