Tony Kanaan wins it by a whisker.

Kanaan barely holds off Juan Pablo Montoya by 0.032 seconds to claim his 1st CART win as fortunes shift dramatically on the final lap. Max Papis appeared destined for his 1st win, leading 143 laps, dominating the 2nd half of the race before his car runs out of gas on the final lap allowing Kanaan to overtake him before the last turn.

Montoya makes a charge on the final stretch but comes up short after winning the battle with Paul Tracy, Dario Franchitti and Michael Andretti as the quartet dices, changing positions constantly throughout in groups of 2, 3 and 4.

Tracy rounds out the podium followed by Andretti and Franchitti.
