Papis uses traffic to overtake Paul Tracy late en route to the win in the season-opener. Tracy had controlled the race after a round of early retirements took out early leaders Juan Pablo Montoya, Gil de Ferran and Michael Andretti. Tracy ends up 3rd behind Papis and Roberto Moreno.
