Juan Pablo Montoya pulls away for the win.

Montoya is able to lap all but 2nd place finisher Patrick Carpentier for an easy win after Michael Andretti's engine blows up while dominating the race. Andretti lead 121 laps and was closing in on Montoya to put him a lap down when his car failed shortly after the last pit stop.

Montoya's lone potential challenger Paul Tracy falls out with a gear box problem as well as hitting the wall.
