Earnhardt leads 133 of the 188 laps, showing the dominant car throughout, and then weathers two late restarts. Michael Waltrip is unable to match Earnhardt and the rest of the field has nothing to challenge the DEI teammates on the restarts.

Jeff Gordon finishes 4th, sandwiching Kurt Busch with the 2 DEI cars as Chevrolet wins its first race of the season in the 9th race.
