Kenseth survives 2 tires going flat, putting him a lap down twice. After his 2nd flat tire, Kenseth is able to dominate as troubles beset the points lead contenders.

Points leader Sterling Marlin retires early, finishing in last, Jeff Gordon leaves shortly after with a crank shaft problem and ends up 40th. Tony Stewart contends until losing power in the closing laps and finishing 30th. Rusty Wallace is on the charge, closing on Kenseth when he suffers a flat tire in the closing laps.
