Game Notes

Mets ride a great performance by Jerry Koosman to a 2-1 win over the Orioles to even the series.

Al Weis singles home Ed Charles for the go-ahead run with 2 outs in the top of the 9th. New York appeared on its way to a 1-0 win over Baltimore as Koosman no hits the Orioles through 6 innings before Paul Blair leads off with a single and then scores on Brooks Robinson's 2-out single to tie it 1-1.

Koosman doesn't allow another hit before departing with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th. Dave McNally is the hard luck loser, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 7 in a complete game performance. But Donn Clendenon makes one of those hits a big one, with a homer to deep rightfield, leading off the 4th inning.
