Gullett takes a 2-hitter into the 9th before allowing 3 straight hits with 2 outs. Rawly Eastwick strikes out Rico Petrocelli to put an end to any rally notions by Boston.

Tony Perez is the other big star for Cincinnati, breaking out of a series-long slump with a solo HR and a 3-run HR. His solo shot off Reggie Cleveland in the 4th ties it 1-1. Pete Rose doubles home Gullett for the go-ahead run in the 5th and Perez breaks the game open with his 3-run shot in the 6th.
