Game Notes

Red Sox stage a dramatic rally, finish to beat the Reds 7-6 in 12 innings and force a Game 7.

Carlton Fisk leads off the 12th, applying all the body english he can to keep his towering shot fair for a game-winning home run off Pat Darcy. The dramatic finish comes after Bernie Carbo's 3-run pinch hit homer off Rawly Eastwick with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th ties it.

Cincinnati had overcome a 3-run homer by Fred Lynn in the 1st inning, finally getting to Luis Tiant. The Reds tie Boston in the 5th when Ken Griffey has a 2-run triple and then scores on Johnny Bench's 2-out single. George Foster's 2-out double scores 2 runs in the 7th, giving Cincinnati the lead before chasing Tiant with another run in the 8th.
