Mets kick the Can early and continue on for a 7-1 win over the Red Sox.

New York jumps on Dennis 'Oil Can' Boyd for 4 runs in the 1st before he can steady himself. Lenny Dykstra leads off with a HR and then Wally Backman and Keith Hernandez follow with singles before Gary Carter doubles to score Backman. Danny Heep later adds a 2-run single. Boyd settles down after that before the Mets strike again with 2 runs in the 7th.

But the damage is done as Bob Ojeda pitches a solid 7 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run. Dykstra goes 4-for-5 while Carter has 2 hits and 3 RBI.
