The Angels jump on Rick Reed early and even the series 1-1. Darrin Erstad tags Reed for a solo HR with 1 out in the 1st.

The Angels extend the lead with 3 runs in the 2nd when Scott Spiezio doubles home a run, and later scores when Minnesota botches a rundown after having Adam Kennedy picked off. Kennedy scores on a single by David Eckstein.

Brad Fullmer's 2-run HR off Reed in the 6th stretches the lead to 6-0. Ramon Ortiz cruises through 5 innings before the Twins get to him in the bottom of the 6th for 3 runs.
