The Angels move within 1 win of reaching the World Series when their bats surge in the 7th and 8th, breaking up a scoreless battle between Brad Radke and John Lackey. Darrin Erstad leads off the 7th with a single to shallow center, steals 2nd and advances on an error before scoring the 1st run on Troy Glaus' single. The Angels add another run in the inning.

The Angels erupt against Minnesota's bullpen in the 8th with Brad Fullmer delivering a 2-run double and Benji Molina coming through with a 2-run triple for the big blows. Meanwhile, Lackey goes 7 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and no walks while striking out 7.
