The Angels follow up their 11 runs in game 2, with another offensive outburst, handing Hernandez his first post-season loss in 7 decisions. The Angels break loose with 4 runs in the 3rd for a 4-1 lead and then follow with 4 more runs in the 4th, chasing Hernandez.

Darin Erstad is the spark with 3 hits and 2 runs, while Scott Spiezio adds 3 RBI. Spiezio triples in a pair of runs in the 3rd, and singles home another in the 4th to make it 6-1. Ramon Ortiz struggles but limits San Francisco enough to protect the early lead.
