Angels offer a speed bump to the Yankees' championship express when Jeff Mathis' 2-out double scores Howie Kendrick for the winning run. New York had homered 4 times, the final one in typical Yankee fashion when Jorge Posada homers in the top of the 8th after the Angels take the lead in the bottom of the 7th.

The Yankees had built a 3-0 lead on solo HRs by Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Johnny Damon. However, the Angels rally when Kendrick hits a solo HR in the 5th and Vladimir Guerrero follows with a 2-run HR in the 6th. Macier Izturis' Sac Fly scores Kendrick in the 7th.
