Game Notes

Rangers power by the Yankees 6-1 to reach their 1st World Series.

With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 5th, big bats produce big hits for Texas as Vladimir Guerrero doubles home 2 runs off Phil Hughes, and then Nelson Cruz follows with a 2-run drive to left center. It was a crucial answer after New York had tied the game on a wild pitch by Colby Lewis in the top of the inning.

However, Lewis proves to be the Rangers' big-game pitcher, allowing 3 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings before turning it over to Neftali Feliz for a perfect 9th.
