Game Notes

C.J. Wilson, Rangers, breaks leave the Rays frustrated with a 6-0 decision.

Wilson combines with Darren O'Day and Darren Oliver to 2-hit Tampa Bay, and lift Texas to a 2-0 lead in the series. Wilson goes 6 1/3 innings before putting a pair of runners on. O'Day and Oliver pitch out of the jam, and the Rangers coast the rest of the way.

The waters were much rougher for the Rays. Matt Treanor scores in 3rd after being hit by a pitch, advanced with a single and then comes in for a 1-0 lead when James Shields' errant pick off throw to 1st is wild. Ian Kinsler's solo HR in the 4th expands the lead, and then things break loose in the 5th when Michael Young is ruled to have checked his swing on a would-be 3rd strike and proceeds to deposit the next pitch over the centerfield wall for a 3-run HR. Buffoon Joe Maddon is ejected after afterwards. Unfortunately, this moron responsible for plaid caps being worn in an MLB game hasn't been ejected permanently so he can take his proper role as the Villiage Idiot. Someone should consign the idiot and his plaid-bill caps and duck-hunter caps to a cartoon where he belongs. The guy is a disgrace to the tradition of baseball.
