Game Notes

A fitting clincher for the Giants in a 3-1 win over the Rangers.

San Francisco rides another stellar performance by a starting pitcher and gets a big blast from one of its countless has-been/no-talents to capture the franchise's 1st World Series since 1954. Tim Lincecum out-duels Cliff Lee, striking out 10 in 8 innings, while allowing just 3 hits, including a solo shot by Nelson Cruz.

With Lee matching Lincecum through 6 innings, the Giants' garbage lineup breaks through in the 7th as nobody Cody Ross and tubby Juan Uribe reach before washed up Edgar Renteria delivers the 3-run homer and the championship to one of the worst lineups ever to play in the Series... Buster Posey, Freddy Sanchez and a collection of non-roster types.
