Game Notes

Rangers erupt to put away the Tigers 15-5.

Texas reaches its 2nd straight World Series by turning a 0-2 deficit into a 9-2 lead in 1 devastating inning. The Rangers send 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning to break the game open, and then follow up with additional runs in later innings to deny Detroit thoughts of a rally. In the process Nelson Cruz launches his 6th HR of the series, setting a MLB record for homers in a series.

The rally starts innocently enough with a 1-out walk and single, but Michael Young ties it with a double, and Adrian Beltre follows with an RBI single. Two more walks and Max Scherzer is out of the game, but David Murphy greets Daniel Schlereth with a 2-run single, and after a botched fielder's choice leaves the bases-loaded the flood gates open as Ian Kinsler follows with a 2-run single and Young eventualy returns to the plate with his 2nd 2-run double of the inning.

The Tigers attempt to rally against Derek Holland with 2 runs in the 5th, but the Rangers add more runs in the 5th and 6th for a 12-4 lead before Young homers in the 8th and Cruz launches his 6th HR of the series.
