Game Notes

Rangers rebound to beat the Rays 8-6, evening the series.

Texas rallies from a 9-0 drubbing in Game 1, and a 3-0 hole in Game 2, as James Shields loses control and the Rangers' bats wake up. Shields starts the Texas rally when he hits Elvis Andrus to start the bottom of the 4th inning, and then after singles by Michael Young and Josh Hamilton load the bases, Shields plunks Adrian Beltre to force in a run.

Mike Napoli follows with a 2-run single to tie the game, and then Shields' control comes into play when his 2nd wild pitch to David Murphy allows Beltre to score and Napoli to move into scoring position where he comes across on a groundout by Mitch Moreland. Moreland later adds a solo HR as insurance for Texas.

Derek Holland struggles early, but weathers Tampa Bay's attack to turn a 7-3 lead over to the bullpen, which promptly gives 3 runs back on a homer by Evan Longoria.
