Game Notes

Rangers rally to a 4-2 win over the Cardinals.

Texas erases an early 2-0 hole with Mike Napoli delivering the key blow as the Rangers take a 3-2 series lead on St. Louis. Napoli's 2-run double off Marc Rzepczynski in the 8th breaks a 2-2 tie as the Cardinals help out with some bullpen snafus, setting the stage right for Napoli's big hit.

St. Louis had taken a 2-0 lead in the 2nd, but Texas starts chipping away with an upper-deck solo HR by Mitch Moreland against Chris Carpenter. Adrian Beltre then goes down to one knee to send another Carpenter offering high and deep into the leftfield stands in the 6th.

The Rangers rally in the 8th when Michael Young leads off with a double, and Nelson Cruz reaches on a 1-out walk. Rzepczynski stays in to face David Murphy, but instead of getting Cruz at 2nd on a grounder by Murphy everyone is safe, leaving the lefthander to inexplicably face the clutch-hitting Napoli, who comes through with the double to deep right-center.
