Jay Bruce homers in his 1st 2 at-bats, helping Cincinnati extend its lead over St. Louis in the NL Central to 7 games. Bruce, who sat out 2 weeks after pulling a muscle, returns to the lineup with a solo HR in the 2nd. Drew Stubbs also adds a solo shot in the 2nd to tie the game 2-2.

Joey Votto gives the Reds a 3-2 lead over Arizona with a solo HR in the 3rd, and then Bruce adds a 2-run blast in the inning. Orlando Cabrera joins the long-ball parade with a solo shot in the 5th.
